Voice of Ishtar

I am the first and the last; I am Light, Breath, and Darkness
I am honored and scorned: I am the whore and the holy one
I am the wife and the virgin, mother and daughter,
I am the barren one, but many are my sons....
I am the silence that is too deep for words
I am Wisdom and Understanding
I come at the utterance of my name.
I hung the gardens of Ninevah and commanded them to grow
From them you will bring offerings of fruit and wine
To me will you bring honey fresh from the hive
For me you will offer your weary spirit
To me you will offer your body
To you I will bring healing and solace.
To you I will bring comfort and healing.
To you I will give love and joy.
To you I will offer acceptance and reverence
To you I will offer hope and kindness
From you will I draw the ragged breath
From you will I draw the honeyed tears
From you do I take sustenance
And offer regeneration.
I will pleasure your body
I will stimulate your mind
I will take the profane and make of it a sacrament
I will engender memory within you
Look into my eyes and know thyself worthy
I am Ishtar, She whom you have called.
