Solstice Dawn

The World lies still, transfixed in awe,
As the Lamp of Night goes dark...
Light of Day slips from our sight
A new journey on which to embark.
The Darkness of deepest silence and
The Blood on the Rose hails birth
The Sun Child of Promise is born
Held fast in the arms of Mother Earth
It is our darkest night,
The longest walk we take.
Lit only by the light of blood on the Moon
In joy Solstice Dawn will break
Welcome Child of Promise
Glory to the newborn King
We stand on the horizon transfixed
As Heaven and Nature sing.
Author's Notes: Inspired by the Lunar eclipse on the Night of a Full Moon at Winter Solstice.
