The April Fool

The April Fool is not as seems,
A careless jest, who’s lost in dreams.
Truly though a fool he made
Of youthful, vibrant, apple maid.
A simple lie of blesséd fruit,
And swift the eagle did uproot
The ever youthful maid of Spring,
And saddened song the gods did sing.
Without the fruit of later Eve,
Death, not even gods deceive.
Thus all wither and decay,
As conquered light at end of day.
Now wrathful gods the Fool did fear,
And worst of all, Odin’s leer.
So as the falcon, swift and true,
To land of giant, off he flew.
From the eagle’s grasp he freed,
The maid who blessed the apple's seed,
And to the gods, the fruit returned,
By Trickster’s jest- a lesson learned.
Though life may Spring from apple’s seed,
Its time shall come and death proceed.
Yet all that Fall and fade away,
Shall rise again another day.
