Be Not Sheep

If I should die before I wake,
Your “God” would not my spirit take.
Eternal torment, endless pain
The pit of Hell, of "Devil’s" reign…
This would be my spirit’s fate
Should my “salvation” come too late.
Love and kindness matter not
And I shall know what “God” hath wrought.
This, your book, has long foretold
For all who do not as their told.
Hear me now, as I proclaim
I shall love, not hide in shame.
If perchance, your book be true
Then “Devil” choose I of the two…
A rapéd child, forced to take, *Deut 22:28-29
And of the culprit, husband make.
And for the slave, listen still *Exod 21:20-21
You may beat, but mustn’t kill.
Eat thy dung, and beat thy child. *Ezek 4:12, Prov 23:13-14
Since I do not, be I defiled?
Smash thy babes upon the rock! *Psalm 137:9
Unto thy shepard, I shall not flock.
So as you pray before you sleep,
I ask thee THINK, and be not sheep.
Author's Notes: ***I want to put a disclaimer on this one. Some Christians who happen to venture onto this might find it difficult to read. I do not mean it to be in any way offensive, however. It stemmed from my frustrations with the far right/fundamentalist side of Christianity. I know many a good Christian. A debate arose with someone I know about my being gay, and "God" loving me so why had I turned my back on him... so I asked about some questionable verses in the Bible which they denied are in it. This poem was just a way to vent my frustrations in a healthy way. With that said I hope you enjoy it.***
