The Apple

Age Group: Adult
The fruit of the snake when given to Eve,
Held wisdom now lost except to a few.
From heart of the star, as witches do weave,
Comes hope of the future, blesséd and new.
Know it is Idun with her golden crop,
To whom even eldest gods often flock.
Wisdom to man do these fruits as they drop,
Bring from the tree, and a science unlock.
Now whether they keep the doctor away,
Or ward evil ghosts away from the home,
By eating but one or blessing with bay,
Hold they the wisdom to fill a great tome.
Crosswise do cut them before next you feed.
Behold the promise and hope of the seed.
