The Power of Words

by Nathaviel

Age Group: Adult

Words are a bondage to essence of god,
Capturing something beyond our beyond.
Labeling no thing and closing a loop,
Round but droplet of eternal soup.
Words are so easy.... the "ahs" and the "ewws",
As infants bring tidings from god ...."Oh great news"....
You're now inside but a singular drop,
Of infinite fields and of bountiful crop.
Life has ensnared you within but a word,
And death shall expose us to all.... how absurd!
Constantly growing like cancer we burst
The circle of life for new waters... we thirst.
Move now from one thing and then to the next.
Capture eternity in but a text.
In a great book that begins with a word,
We're born to new pages...a chapter inferred.
Some words are wondrous like "valor" and "Love"
Or dreamlike and breezy...say "swallow" and "dove".
Some words are solid, like "well traveled path".
Some bring the sadness of "hatred" and "wrath".
These are but words, but with each you define...
You birth a new flower on tree and on vine.
Thoth... some they say... he created by mouth
A world with 2 poles of the north and the south.
A poet is nothing but Thoth you could say,
Carelessly tossing these words "to and fray".
Why do I write then... what reason for "me"?
I am creating a world with "a tree".
The charm of my making…most powerful spell.
I speak with the breath of a dragon… the smell…
Of sulfur and fire… bring heat of the forge,
Where iron is tamed , and the spirit I scourge.
Parched now with thirst, though, I yearn for a grail,
Of eternal oceans wherein the gods dwell.
I drown in the presence and sink to the deep
Buried in earth as the harvest I reap.
The serpent of Midgard… he circles around
Merely a prison...do I sound profound?
He circles a world, and it crumbles within;
For I am its maker, and pride is my sin.
Though pride is the greatest of sins I could make,
Still I keep making this "stupid" mistake!
An angel brings gnosis in infernal "drop",
Bound in a spiraling loop that must "STOP"!
