Dance of Apep

***This was written to a beat. There are seven beats per line. The first four syllables fall in succession, followed by a pause of two beats, and ending with the last syllable being stressed on the final beat. The idea is that the snake is tempting/alluring/hypnotizing. ***
Can you keep step, step
To dance of A - pep
As demons dance, dance
While in a trance, trance?
Oh hear them sing, sing
Around a ring, ring
Of fire burns, burns.
A cauldron churns, churns
As witches spin, spin
A web of sin, sin.
And don’t you know, know
That apples grow, grow
Upon a tree, tree.
Will you be free, free?
Taste of the seed, seed.
The hunger feed, feed.
Tango with me, me.
You will be free, free.
The serpent sways, sways
While Man obeys... ways.
Spread out your wings, wings.
A dragon sings, sings.
And will you dance, dance
Into a trance, trance?
Oh hear them sing, sing
Within a ring, ring.
The sirens call, call
And men will fall, fall.
Like gods of old, old
The stories told, told.
A barque will sink, sink
If you will think, think.
The sun will fall, fall.
The night will call, call.
As fire burns, burns
A serpent churns, churns,
And he will be... free
To climb the tree, tree.
These are the ways, ways
A serpent sways, sways,
And will you dance, dance
While in his trance, trance?
And will you burn, burn
Or will you learn, learn
That will you be…free?
Taste of the tree, tree.
And will you dance, dance?
Give him a chance, chance.
Listen to me, me.
Reach for the tree, tree,
If you can step, step
To dance of A-pep
You will be free, free
