Why the Jack O' Lanterns Grin

The autumn breeze is blowing through the trees and frosty air,
While amber leaves are drifting and the jack-o-lanterns stare.
“Warding off the demons, ” is the thought, and so they hide,
Locked inside their houses; off to sabbat shall we ride?
How bright the fire burns to let the spirits know this night
We honor those who came before, while cowans hide in fright.
The old shall pass, and new is born; the circle ever turns.
We dance with “devils” in a ring of flame that ever burns.
Great Mother you have given us the gift of mortal breath,
And we shall all return to thee; Behold the Crone of Death!
Another year has come and gone, marked by this Hallow’s Eve,
Let us reap the harvest of the magick web we weave.
We fly from out the circle while the jack-o-lanterns grin,
Keeping well, our secrets, as we celebrate Samhain.
