Dancing To The Great Pan’s Song

Green meadows sweet
A cushion under feet
Daffodils shining bright in the sun
This spring has begun
Breezes sway the young spring grass
Play afield both goat and ass
Heavy with kid, burden dear
The playful Pan never to fear
Sing this day a joyful song
To the host of nature’s throng
Dance merrily in erotic pursuit
To Pan’s great musical flute
Flitting high on wing this day
Is it butterfly or is it Fay?
Lights buzz around, and the circle swells
Shining through the dells
Pan’s hooves beet the ground
Setting the percussion, moving sound
Stirs our spirits on, singing soul
A wonderous sight to behold
Dance, dance the circle bare
Satyr after maiden fair
The wheel of life moves on still
With love and light our souls to fill
Late into evening dark
We’ll soar like an eagle but sing like a lark
The whole of woodland’s avid throng
Swaying to the Great Pan’s song
Till at last exhaustion prevails
We lay on ground to ringing bells
To cuddle in love's embrace
To honor Pan after the chase
Author's Notes: A friend of mine has re-introduced me to the Great God Pan. I cannot thank him enough for in Pan I have found a long lost friend. I dedicate this poem first to Pan and then to Boo Boo.
