A Spring-Like Day in the Dead of Winter

The Spring Peepers woke Her
Yawning and stretching in the brown Earth
She thought it seemed warmer than yesterday.
At the creek, the icy fingers of Winter
That held to the rocks like claws yesterday
Are freshets of sparkling, life giving Water.
The sight of the Water, undulating
Caressing the rocks like a lover
Now, where did that thought come from?
Her virgin thighs have never been parted
Her ruby lips have never been kissed
And still, deep in her belly, there is Desire.
She smelled Him before she saw Him
The tangy smell of wildness on the breeze
It was enough to make Her stand to be seen.
She watched as he drank deeply
From the Water's edge
On the other side.
He stood up, glorious in the sun
Her breath caught,
Her heart leapt.
Something inside her changed,
Gave way to Time.
Made her a Woman.
It is Her desire you feel on the wind
When Winter has not quite slipped away,
And yet you smell Spring in the air.
She has seen Him for the first time;
Her desire has quickened.
Soon, He will come for Her.
The first Breath of Spring
Is a little like Love at First Sight.
You can only dream of the wonders it will bring.
