Flowers From The Ashes

by Gaia
 Age Group: Adult

Dedication to Tempest Smith Michele Gaddis ©7/30/2008
V1: She was aptly named She lived through a tempest and that was her name Object of abuse and ridicule Everyone just turned a blind eye and went deaf Everyone could see the storm building but no one would do a thing to stop it Save her mom and no one would listen to her Time ran out
C: Like a whirlwind Her tears poured like rain When she could take it any more She took a pretty scarf put it around her neck tied it to the bed post really tight - jumped into a better life That’s the day Tempest ended her storm Tempest Is No More But there is a rainbow after every storm Her Spirit Will Spring Forth Flowers From The Ashes
V2: That’s happens when things get out of control that’s why People need to be Trained Educated Motivated, That’s goes for Parents, Educators Students Too We need learn not just tolerance but acceptance and love
C 2: Like a whirlwind Things can fly of control When tears pour like rain When people could take it any more The might just do something to end it all Like the day Tempest ended her storm So the Tempest will cease Not everyone can see There is a rainbow after every storm But if we all work together Tolerance, Acceptance and Love, Will Spring Forth Flowers From The Ashes
Author's Notes: This is a poem and lyrics to a song for my CD that I am working on and I thought that would share it. I was really moved by Tempest's story and I though how ironic that her life reflected the meaning of her name- which means extremely storm. For those who do not know her story search for Tempest Smith. Her mother a crucader for tolerance, includance and acceptance of other passed beyond the veil. This event inspired me to write thislyric /poem For those of you not familiar with lyrical notes V=Verse C= Chorus The number after it indicates which version of the Verse or Chorus it is. The name of the song/ poem is taken from an inspirational quote by Tempest mother , Denessa. it is included underneath
"If she truly has magickal energies then this energy is spread as wide and as far as it can get then it will spring forth flowers from the ashes.”1 Quotation of Denessa Smith (8/25/1965-7/28/2008) , Tempest Mother from the article by Nitedruid originally appeared in the Mabon 2002 issue of The Willow's Way, a publication of the Federation of Circles and Solitaries.
