The Rain

Drip, drop, drip, drop…
Is the sound you hear when the sky turns grey.
Pitter, patter, pitter, patter…
Is the sound it makes as it speeds up in the day.
The Rain…is soothing and clear,
As the tears from the sky fall down.
Sometimes it may hold us with fear,
But then we realize it’s a gentle sound.
Children sing and dance in it
While they laugh and play.
Adults sleep to the sound of it
And wake up to a new day.
Drip, drip, drop little April shower,
Beating a tune as you fall all around.
Drip, drip, drop little April shower,
What can compare to your beautiful sound?
Drip, drop, drip, drop…
Is the sound you hear when the sky turns grey.
Pitter, patter, pitter, patter…
Is the sound it makes, speeding up in the day.
