Sleep...
by Burning

I sleep to dream and
dream to sleep
a slumber most
still, dark and deep.
...rest will I,
my weary heavy eyes
and quite the
waking somber cries
to slip away into
the deep-
the black,
the darkness-
and convalescing sleep.

Author's Notes: Oh to have a solid, good night's sleep- to have a good, solid dream that I can remember when I wake. Long have I been plagued with sleeplessness. Most people do not realize how important sleep is to your physical health- let alone how important it is to your mental and spiritual health. And who thinks dreaming is important to one’s health?
I used to have the most vivid dreams. Detailed, vibrant and full of wonder. From the perfect nightmare to the most tantalizing fantasy… I loved them all. Pondering them and the unconscious secrets they held made me marvel.
Lack of sleep and the deprivation of dreams are the inspiration for this prayer, this mantra.
