The Path

The Path
We walk the path of light in this world,
We herald awareness with sails unfurled.
Then soaring high, we dance with eagles,
With hawks and owls and flocks of seagulls.
But with the light, there comes the darkness.
All weary and strained and filled with starkness.
The higher you fly, the deeper you sink,
Until you feel yourself there at the brink.
The light is bouyant, pure and clean.
The darkness comes clawing, vicious and mean.
To walk this path requires a balance
Beyond many people, it takes a talent,
To be as one with both you see,
The light, the dark, all is within me.
