The Bird in The Cage of White Bars

Like a little excited bird, it beats at a smooth pace. The opening and closing of the doors that lead to the rooms that keeps the precious blood flowing makes a soothing sound. Thump thud, thump thud, thump thud. It’s housed in a cage of white bars. I thought the cage’s lock couldn’t be picked. But I was wrong.
He did what I thought was impossible. He took the bird. At first I didn’t mind. Then slowly he started to pluck the bird’s beautiful feathers. One by one the feathers were pulled. It hurt but I tried to ignore it but slowly, very slowly, the bird became bare. I had enough. I took back the bird. I don’t know if it hurt him. I don’t know if he cares but I did what felt right.
I put the bird back in its cage with a heavier more efficient lock. Friends helped me heal the bird and eventually the feathers grew back. He tries to take back the bird often but I mustn’t let into his charm and intelligence. I can’t give him the key. The right care taker of the bird will come but for now he’s safe in his cage of white bars.
