scratching at my shadow where it sits upon the wall
staring back, eyeless.
I step across the line, a single moment
suspended, entering emptiness.
I turn back and once again I am of the living
and the dead.
I stratal worlds and fill my hands like cups
with the power that lies between.
Author's Notes: For the first time in a long time I pulled out my mothers Medicine Cards, and did a reading for myself. The cards that struck me most were Crow and Raven. Law and Magic. In the absence of light there are only shadows, but only in light can shadows be seen.
