Echoes

Echoes calling to caller
Rebounding from face to face.
But tis no cramped cavern nor craggy chasm
Where these resounds ring.
Tis within
My mind, my body, my soul
Where hollows ring so dolefully.
How empty it feels,
Longing to be full
So the sounds do not linger.
No emotion but sadness there.
No light in that soul dark.
Watching others so happy
And wishing for just a taste.
No comfort.
No companion.
Nothing but sorrowful self
Full and brimming of old pain,
Cruel laughter and harsh tears.
Hearing the redoubling screams
Cascading from memory
To present life.
What cure can clear this?
What feelings can fill the void?
Unknown and unknowable
To this tattered spirit.
Seeking some relief,
But looking in vain.
Always seeking to block
Those wretched echoes
Of past years and past tears.
But still they vibrate
Shaking already broken foundations.
Eventually they will fall,
Taking what is left
Of me
With those cracking bits.
My cries only sound within.
Can you hear me?
Can you know this empty space?
Empty within, seeming solid without
But hollow and echoing,
Echoing,
Echoing.

Author's Notes: It's been a long time since I've posted here... I have a few others I need to type in and post... But this is the first one I've gotten the chance to just write on the computer... It's pretty self-explanatory... Sorry I'm so down right now. I just can't seem to keep my head above the proverbial water these days and it hurts to keep struggling all by myself. *sigh*
