Call of the Horn

The Horn is sounded, the roster called,
And the ranks of Darkness stand appalled,
At those who rise
With burning eyes,
In the hour before the Sun.
With circle and spell, sword and shield,
They draw the Line that will not yield.
With bow and blade
Standing undismayed,
At the strength of the Evil One.
Hour by hour, from Dawn's first light,
Through the bloody day, to the grim twilight,
The Line is held
And the Beast repelled;
His conquering plans undone.
And when the note of Victory sounds,
The Beast recalls his savage Hounds,
While those who remain
On that charnel plain,
Give thanks, that the day is won.
They honor their dead, and their wounded tend,
Knowing the time will come again,
When the voice of the Horn
In the still of the morn
Cries: "Another battle's begun!"
