Seeing the Unseen

by Rose'Ena Tanu

Age Group: Adult

Here a little flicker of movement;
There a brief glitter of light.
Seeing what is not normally seen,
Trying to act as if it does not happen,
So those nearby will not realize
Just how different we are.

Being near to anyone,
And catching glimpses of them,
Not of their face or body,
But of their mind
Their memories
Their futures.
A dancing figure here;
An old pet there.
Spirits of what was
And wisps of what will be.
Intertwining the two,
Confusing imagery,
But the swirl makes sense
If you just take the time to look.

To those who can see,
Be on thy guard.
To see too much can be
Just as dangerous as not at all.
The unseen waits to be seen.
It dances for you,
Trying to catch your eye.
But learn to block it out,
Or risk losing yourself.

Its dance will never end.
As we will never cease,
For we too
Can be unseen.
We disappear as if never there.
Forgotten by those
Who cannot see.
To those for whom
We do not exist
And we prefer it so.

Author's Notes: I'm not sure if anyone else will understand my logic in putting this under "Society and Culture." But I'll try to explain the odd workings of my screwed up mind. In today's world, beign a seer is to be an outcast of one of the worst sorts most every where you go. And most of us have at least some ability to see. Unfortunately for me, I seem to have a natural gift for it that makes being out in public uncomforatable most days. Anyway, we try to fade into the background so we won't be harmed by those who can't see as we can. Society rejects us most of the time. This is our society. maybe someday we will have the right to be truly open about what we can do and what we are. I hope that day comes sometime, though it may be long in the future. What will be, will be. Blessed be to everyone! Be safe, be well. Goddess keep thee!
