Music's Gift

Age Group: Adult
Of those who are Siren,
We can be heard singing ere the dawnin’.
Our voices raised proud and true
Through the roiling mists and glistening dew.
Music is our gift to all,
Though we are known for causing sailors’ fall.
Now we Sirens sing everywhere
In places we once would not dare.
For many known today for Voice
Make a living with it by their Choice.
As a Siren, I would so like to do
But that chance will not likely come through.
So I sing for myself and friends,
Making smiles shine end to end.
Music is my gift too
And I like to use it as I used to.
But now I do not lead men to their long sleep,
For I have seen too many weep.
Now I sing for joy
And I sing for pain to allay
I give my gift to you and all
Who may follow that tune, come back ere you fall.
Follow my song now to life
And leave this awful strife.
Let me change this reputation of the sea,
So mote it be.

Author's Notes: Strange one, I know... But I am a Siren and I truly love to sing. I feel as long as I can make someone smile or express my emotions in a song, then maybe I can cause a little spot of brightness for someone nearby. I try at least. Mayhap this one could be turned into a song at some point... I don't know. I'm willing to try if someone can help write music to it...? *chuckle* Anyway, next time you listen to your fav female singer, listen for the thrum of the sea underneath her voice, and you'll know who I'm talking about! There's a couple of really big names out there that are Sirens in disguise... Maybe they don't even realize they are Sirens. Who knows. But I know... Can you figure a couple of them out?
