Wind Words

Listen, children
Hear the wind whisper in your ear.
Perceive the sounds,
Believe their meaning.
In words murmured
Through the leaves,
Around the grasses,
Past the window and the house,
To the brook bubbling
In its small gully.
Hear and believe.
Dancing on the breeze,
Dreams float past,
Flying by closed eyes.
Memories lurk,
Recalled by the wind’s
Lonely words.
Listen, earth’s children.
For those words
Can guide you
Where you belong.

Author's Notes: This is one of several more poems I found. When I wrote them, I’m not sure. Probably before I was taken out of that school in New Jersey where I almost lost my hold on this world. Possibly as reflections once I was out of there, remembering what happened to me there. I can’t remember and I didn’t date them. Some of them are pretty, some aren’t, some are obvious attempts to imitate some style I must have been either studying or interested in at the time. If you wish to comment, don’t hesitate to do so.
I put this under Devotional because I have had to listen to the winds for many years, since those were the only voices I could hear that weren't yelling at me all the time. *wince* But I feel that if you listen to the winds, you'll hear them talking to you, telling you of storms coming in or of people watching over you. Ther are always there. You just have to listen.
