Lies

Lies
She felt he didn’t need her,
That he’d do better on his own.
She thought her life was horrible,
But there was little trouble in the home.
She thought she should die,
That her life was unaccounted for.
She etched the words on her leg,
Soon she would be at heaven’s door.
She heard what they were saying,
All they said behind her back.
She’d start yelling at them,
Then they’d spread that she was on crack.
She’d be screaming at her mom,
About all the lies and deceit.
Her mom would understand,
But the girl would retreat.
She would be hiding,
Avoiding the life she once knew.
Her tears of blood that fell,
Grew and grew.
Her friends from when she was young,
Asked her where the old one went.
If they were truly her friends,
Then they would have consent.
She would come home,
And retreat to the dark.
She would hide in dark corners,
Where the light came apart.
When she would talk to her love,
She would keep it all hidden.
But when she talked to her sister,
She gave in to admission.
No one would understand her life,
Not a soul knew really why.
She had pulled out her knife,
And etched in her leg ‘Lies’.
