Memories of a Photograph

Treasured memories buried by dust
By time
I find some photographs from
Back Then.
Huh.
I don't remember this one.
Who is that boy
Holding me on his lap
Gripping my arm?
Wait.
He must be a boyfriend
But why aren't I smiling?
Was I really so small
Back then?
No!
I'm fourteen at most
So why am I wearing
A turtleneck and pants
When the sun is burning my cheeks?
Huh.
There's Fire in his eye
Desperation in his gesture
A Stone face can hide many things.
A memory can hide in dusty photographs.
Author's Notes: You can be a victim of domestic violence at that age. Believe me. I know.
