The Bitter Knife of Love

Your indifference has slit the throat of my expectation,
the wine of love leaping from the neck of all my hopes,
launching in undulating hematic garlands,
that fall to nourish the dry desert sands
you left behind as a parting gift.
The sun dried grains of my soul
are met by this crimson flow of bygone dreams
that parade across a landscape of wishes
as the light of you
begins to fade from view.
The space between the dry dusty grains at my feet,
awaken and become as gaping mouths,
parched with thirst,
as they await to swallow the ethereal essence
you’ve let from my innocent heart.
This ruthless storm surge of loving devotion
unjustly loosed from my adoration,
forms a turbid lagoon underfoot
that quenches my thirsty desert.
This loving essence descends down into
the cracked dry throats between the grains
that drink in wild robust gulps,
consuming all that has spilled.
The grains of sand are then transformed into Rubies,
innumerable, finely cut and without inclusion;
a glorious bed of sparkling luxuriance
which the sky calls to raise fourth
crops of every sweet thing that heals and beautifies.
Lush green rain forests of deep mysteries
burst fourth to love the sky,
reaching out with comforting limbs
to welcome the weary into their secret places
for peaceful rest and rebirth.
Within this new realm propagated by exquisite sorrow,
winds a filigree of delicate mist covered brooks that
flow with a luminescent elixir;
they breathe this golden nectar through their channels
which upon cupping a sip of,
all things unknown appear in timeless clarity.
Only but one last thing I would ask of you
my beloved executioner:
Could you do that again?
