A Bard’s Thanksgiving

Age Group: Adult
I thank my heart for beating
I thank my lungs for breathing
I thank my legs for walking me here
And I thank my eyes for seeing
I thank my ears, that tell me the sounds they hear
That are Loud or soft, far or near
I thank the filigree of veins that carry my blood
That is urologically cleansed and endocrined with love
You work so very hard body 24hours a day
With nary a thought and very little pay
I thank you now for sustaining my life
So I can write with my hands and dream with my mind
Signature in my flesh signed by the starry night sky
Making me brother to stones and creatures that fly
My mother the forest so deep and green
My father the sky, my sister the sea
A family of wisdom of which I’m in awe
Of feather and beak, of tooth and claw
Share with me the things that I’m impassioned to know
So that it be above as it is below
