Do that again

Age Group: Adult
Another wave
washes over me,
a clarity,
rinsing the mud from my eyes
but for a moment,
an eternity.
Is there a difference?
A wanting churns in my breast:
the tears of my heart hold in joy
the memory of the forest for which I long.
It winds through a secret path to my soul
overshadowed by the poison of the city.
It knows the way...it always knows the way;
this longing, this power,
from which there is no escape.
Yet woefully, I'm Surrounded by all that dazzles the eye,
and not in harmony with who I am becoming;
it weighs upon me like a heavy coat
in midsummer.
I long for the green beauty of the sultry forest, the perfect word of God,
Fresh crisp air that fills the soul,
The Dancing, The drumming, the bonfires, painting each others face;
All night long.
Oh God...I want to do that again!
