Dancing With Dark Friend

Press me down unto earth Dark Friend
Crush me with your love
Grind my soul to the finest dust
New beginnings from dead ends
Ground me in humility
Center me in trust
Let shining steel of suffering
Flake and fall like rust
Feel the granite of my heart
Hold it close; gently squeeze
Until cold stone again does beat
And I rise back to my knees
The way to dance pinned under boulder
Precludes the ego’s need
To sculpt raw rock into a partner
That never steps on feet
Brave sojourn through eternity
Begins without a step
As the conscious leads creation
From chaos love has leapt
So press me down unto earth Dark Friend
Though harsh the treatment seems
My sands will fuse to form a mirror
That reflects a soul redeemed

Author's Notes: This came during a prolonged retreat from the Light when I was squandering way too much time in the Otherworld. If you have ever lived there, it is likely you have danced once or twice with my Dark Friend.
