The Fire That Burns Me - (offering to Aphrodite)

The sun of your smile has once again risen
Above the horizon of my foolishness;
Soft clouds of fantasy dissipate
To expose pure blue innocence.
I’m Naked before you oh deathless one,
You having once again left your fathers golden temple
To see what is the matter with me now,
to ask what troubles my innocent heart
To sorrow and longing?
Wile weaving daughter of Zeus
Have mercy upon me,
For I feel a blaze of passion burning
Through every cell of my being
That longs to be given
Yet has not one that can hold it;
I stand alone consumed by its heat
Helpless not knowing what to do
Except burn.
I burn before the sky
Before the clouds
Before the trees
Before the flowers
Before the passion of lovers
Before the smile of a baby
Before all those things which
I cannot myself hold nor touch.
Oh Aphrodite
not one knows me as you
Loves me as you
Sees me as you
caresses me as you.
My eyes have been opened to a love
Of which I cannot speak;
a passion which I cannot share.
Take me with you on your sea foam
Away from here
where I can empty myself into your ocean.
You’re the only one worthy to hold
the fire that burns me.
