I Am Three
by Life is a Dance Regardless
Age Group: Adult
Call me Maiden
Call me Maiden, for that is indeed what I am
Call me a Maiden fool though
And I shall call you a liar
Wisdom does not necessarily come with age
And I have much wisdom to impart to you
When people age, they forget to watch the world
With new eyes
Always
There is always something to look at
To marvel at
With child-like wonder
I am young
I am a warrior, a fighter at heart
But an ancient wisdom fuels my soul
And tells me right from wrong
But I am wise enough to know that my ancient wisdom
Is different from your ancient wisdom
And that your right and my right are equal
But separate
Call me Mother
Call me Mother, for that is indeed what I am
Call me new mother though
And I shall call you a liar
I have mothered my whole life
I have mothered my friends
I have mothered my brother
I have mothered my garden
I have mothered myself
While I will do well to take advice from my mother
Given that she raised me well
If I do say so myself
I will listen to my own instincts
I will listen to my child with my heart and my soul
Because while I do not know all
I believe a mother knows best
Call me Crone
Call me Crone, for that is indeed what I am
Call me Old though
And I shall name you for what you are
You speak the truth I long to hear
I will wear that title across my forehead
To remember my days as a warrior princess
I will wear that title across my stomach
To commemorate my days as a loving mother
I will wear that title on my chest
Like the badge of honor it is
As testament to my place in history
I will absorb that title
Into my heart
Which I will wear on my sleeve
Like the demonstration of courage
Of fighting past obstacles
Of conquering insurmountable odds
That it is
Call me Maiden
Call me Mother
Call me Crone
Call me Old
Call me whatever you will because each is a part of me
They are all me and I am they
And I will be until the day my bones turn to dust
And my memory is lost to the world
