Echoes of First Love

Echoes of First Love
I will go to the forest
in search of solitude,
To embrace timeless shadows
which understand my mood.
How I long for the quiet,
the misty veil of gray,
where the boundaries of being
are broken for a day.
In the still of the forest
the echoes come alive
As I search for the meaning
within me to survive.
And in quiet surrender
I pause beneath a tree
While the mist of the morning
still feed my reverie.
Underneath time-worn branches
where roots lie spread apart
On the ground, in a hollow--
I sit and search my heart.
The embrace of the monarch
the scented loving earth
Whisper secrets, compelling–
a time before my birth.
I have known you forever,
my soul was born of thee–
You have cradled by spirit
and then you sent me free.
Yet the bond never broken
still beckons quietly
To return to my first love,
my Lady, Blessed Be!

Author's Notes: This is one of the places in my heart where I go when I seek sanctuary. Over the years I have sought to find the actual place. I know it must exist since it is so very real to me. First, I sought it in another land. Then I sought it in images on the web. But finally, tired of searching I sat quietly, and I found it in my heart. Please let me share this place with you too.
