Spiral Dance
by Life is a Dance Regardless
Age Group: Adult
Spiral may I dance with you
Spiral dance me through and through
Can’t you see I’m barely here
Come and whisper in my ear
I haven’t been to the dance in ages
All I’ve been doing is turning pages
Watching the dancers round their fire
Yearning to join in their dance of desire
But I’ve just sat here tapping my feet
Along to truly tribal beats
I wished I had moved before now
I wish I had moved but I didn’t know how
I’ve been sitting and watching as life passed me by
And all I could say to the moments was “goodbye”
Now I want to join again
Take my hand and be my friend
Be the faerie on my shoulder
Make me into a dancing soldier
I want to fight the way warriors fight
I want to dance with my brothers tonight
I want to live with an ongoing passion
And I want to love though love’s gone out of fashion
But if, perchance, you let me lead
I promise I will not impede
The steps that dance me round about
Not hard it looks to figure out
All I must do is look within
To find the dancing drum rhythm
To find my feet I just look forward
So as not to trip on swords
I’ll look into my brother’s eyes
Gaze up at the starry skies
And then I’ll fall into your arms
Knowing you will do no harm
I’ll cry with joy upon your shoulder
Feel the fire as it smolders
You have helped me heal my heart
And now my new life I can start
