Hello Mom

by Taliesin
 Age Group: Adult

Hello Mom…can you hear me where you are?
Can you hear my voice, far and away In some distant land close by that no doubt Must be better for you than where I still am?
I’ve been walking down the corridor of life, step by step reading each leaf inscribed with that which I must learn this time.
I see the pictures upon the wall as I go by them; things that where and things that I wish had been. I see families with their children, playing, laughing, running, and I imagine that they are mine, for but a moment.
I feel how proud you would have been, welcome in my home always, and grandmother to my little ones.
I see your face smiling, beaming with untold joy.
But then I feel the tether of my reality, pulling me away from this beautiful visage of things wished; back to the cold and dark of my world and I watch as this wonderful dream' upon the wall of desires, as it runs like fresh water colors in a cold summer rain.
And I then I watch as my truth once again appears Where I have empty hands and an empty heart; Four decades of my path behind me, Clinging only to the anticipation of when it will end.
I see the pictures remembering the poison that ran through your veins given to you by the one whom you swore vows to.
I watch, powerless as the deadly metal so heavy Over takes your flesh, releasing your beautiful spirit from a world that didn’t deserve you; missing the goal of your sixtieth year by one hour and one half, hoping to have been made a grand mother by then.
The pain of your absence makes my throat swell as I choke on the salt welling in my eyes; the tempest and angry ocean of sorrow that I’ve sailed my whole life since you left, tossing me about like a devil duck gone mad.
Alone and in my middle years, never having the one you spoke of come to tie me to herself in the bonds of love, I find solace in the only remnant I have left of you.
It Keeps my head high amongst the dark clouds screaming with horizontal tempest and stinging scorpions of light: It Is the memory of your smile.
For when I see it, I never have to question what I see shining from it.
And that is, that with all your heart and all of your soul, You loved me for who I am when no one else would.
This is for me the sweetest memory of all,
For it’s Magick keeps the blood running through my veins in the hope that I will one day, see it again.
Your Son,
Paul Andrew
