Mom

Mom….I don't mean to pry
But why did it have to be this way?
Another year gone by
Another 9th of May.
All my dreams have gone silent
Under the dark moon cold,
graveyard of wondrous intent
funeral of hope, now that I’m old.
Walking by the gravestones
in and amongst the rows,
all blank and broken,
guarded by crows.
A dark sorrows night
that Poe could never dream,
with his absinth sight,
from which his words streamed.
I try to wake up
And find you there,
But I’ve found myself trapped,
In this nightmare.
With the Pain of love
Just beyond my reach,
A brilliant white dove,
who could end my sleep.
Life is lonely
And life is pain,
As the clouds begin to gather,
It now begins to rain.
The water rushes by
And carries away the night,
And I begin to cry,
As my sorrow takes flight.
Down at my feet
A single stone remains
On it a word I can’t see
Covered with mud and rain
As I wipe it clean
From my throat comes a voice
As this word I now read
