Ending dialog among friends

by J. Sandy
 Age Group: Adult

Ending dialog among friends
She: The linens lay on top the bed, Make it yourself, is all they said.
He: The echo of his words had fled, “For you I washed, and aired the bed.”
S: The room is empty, they've gone away. Entertain yourself, we cannot stay.
H: The rest were busy fixing food, They all pitched in, a busy brood.
S: OK, I say, I live alone, These things I can do on my own.
H: So join right in and be at ease, We’re a family, if you please.
S: But I have things that I must do, Why drive so far to be with you.
H: So be with me and join right in, Or ask my friends about my sins :D
S: I have expenses, as do you but share them not when they are due.
H: I share your expenses, this I do! Yet what’s the price of friendship, true? S: But still I long for former times, when the princess in your eyes was mine.
H: Those times of giving now replaced: By your expected dues, disgraced.
S: Exploring life was then our joy and compromise, a toy. H: Till compromise became a strain Which feelings, actions, would restrain.
S: I sense the burden I've become yet I am not sure why, H: Our "contract" strangles as it binds. Its no safety net. Demanding blinds.
S: I gave you all that I could give and maybe too much more.
H: What I received from your free will Most valued is love and friendship still!
S: Be free, my love, eternal friend, I'll not hold you back But tell me sweet, What has become of the magic that we lack?
H: The answer, love, is not so strange: Look up, not down, and you’ll perceive That love lives in the rainbow’s range In magic, not things, when you believe. J. Sandy
Author's Notes: We are all blind at times, when we confuse the person in front of us, with our heart's creation. It is simply one of the pitfalls of the human condition.
