In This Life

In This Life
Out of the night that covers me,
Blackened with lies which freedom stole,
I thank the Gods who fashioned me
For my gentle and loving soul.
In the hands of my enemy
To my faith I was ever true.
And despite cruel destiny
My Lady's promise saw me thru.
Beyond this place of doubts and fears,
And burning times which never fade,
Brothers, sisters, in this life's years
Find, and shall find me unafraid.
Not hell nor heaven I await
In Summerland you'll see me stroll,
For I'm the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.
