A Foggy Seattle Night

A Foggy Seattle Night
From deep within my soul
I see its twinkling light
Its winking made me whole.
My world is turning bright.
Along the harbor piers
In fog I sense the sound
When midnight hour nears
And mysteries abound.
The world is nearly silent
The fog the lights won't hide
They shine in halos, ardent.
Soft music greets the tide.
I stop to breathe the night in
And lean upon the railing
With warmth and love within
Ignore the air so chilling
The darkness interrupted
A whispering couple exits
The light on waves reflected
A sight to liven spirits
The sound of jazz now stronger
In momentary spotlight
The notes in my ear linger
I know the song, "'round midnight"
The night was made for dreaming
The kind with eyes wide open
The heart will soon be scheming
Not knowing what will happen
Just then the fog is clearing
And I can see afar
Above with joyful feeling
I spot a shining star
She's looking blue and lonely
Then winks to me above
She tells me I'm her only
The one she'll always love
Oh evening star I thank you
You found me so alone
And offered your love, true
A lady of my own
But just as I was saying
She must have understood
The love which I was praying
Would hug me if she could
Oh night of joy and wonder
Two hands encircled me
My love could be no fonder
This foggy night with Thee.
