Tumblr Reflections

Tumblr Reflections
I looked at your pictures
Not pictures of you.
I saw in them glamour
Photographer's crew
Each person was hiding
Exposed in plain view
In poses exciting
Seductive, it's true
The pictures on tumblr
At first appeared seamy
With beautiful bodies
And skin smooth and creamy
But as I looked closer
Beyond what was steamy
I saw what one might see
So lovely and dreamy
When trapped in a moment
A stage or an age
Without point of reference
To measure or gage
You can not discover
As you turn the page
The beauty that's all yours
Which others engage
So while pictures scanning
You should not despair.
Yourself with another
You should not compare.
The truth of the matter
Accept if you dare
Both outside and inside
By far you're most fair!

Author's Notes: What an easy trap for anyone to fall into! Every age has had it version. Today's generation includes sites like "Tumblr." When a friend asked me to look at their posts on Tumblr, I did, and then understood why she was so down on herself. This poem was my answer to her. I know that she understood. I hope others will also gain by these words.
