Alchemical Processes

I designed a seven pointed star with glyphs for the seven alchemical processes outlined by Catherine MacCoun in her book (On Becoming an Alchemist: A Guide for the Modern Magician, 2008) . The seven alchemical processes are: calcification, dissolution, separation, conjunction, fermentation, sublimation, and radiation. At the center is the quintessence. The author describes the following. From false roots, the substance is burned until nothing remains but ashes. The result is confidence. The ashes are dissolved into fluid and desire becomes devotion. Opposite elements are then separated out and territoriality becomes integrity. Once separate, opposite elements are reunited and vulnerability combines to create compassion. Obsolete desires and ambitions are then left alone in the dark where they putrefy and become magical will. In the process of being heated, until the essence rises to the top, the disconnection between intention and will transforms into thought becoming deed. Arbitrary magic is transformed into sacred magic through the formation of the philosophers stone.
