Little Bee

Flying, Buzzing little bee
Hovering from the honey tree
I don’t fear you cause I eat
Your honey which tastes so sweet
Touching flowers in the sun
Is your job a chore or fun?
Can you smell the flowers well?
If you can please tell.
Duh-du-du, Duh-duh!
Duh-du-du, Duh-duh!
You turn labor to an art
Through your moves you seem so smart
By a picnic do you fly
People scream as you whiz by
Your hard work the Vikings thanked
For with mead they could get tanked
Your kind are a jolly bunch
For your work thanks so much
Duh-du-du, Duh-duh!
Duh-du-du, Duh-duh!
Funny, as you fly around
How quickly you take my frown
Little boys say, "Swat that thing!"
On thier bums you give a sting
I just love to watch your flight
Your pollen makes flowers bright
Working, working without end
Little Bee you're my friend
Duh-du-du, Duh-duh!
Duh-du-du, Duh-duh!
Author's Notes: This is more of a lyric than a poem, so its more fun if you sing it. Perhaps I shouldn't tell you this, but if you use the tune of "Christmas, Christmas-time is here!" by the Chipmuncks, it fits perfectly. Hats of to Alvin.
I think the bee holds some great similarities to us pagans: largely feared and misunderstood, very active in making life in nature, will only sting you in self-defense, holds secret stores of the sweetest honey for those who only look closely. So here's to our little friends!
