A Warriors Journey

Age Group: Adult
The warrior sat silently weeping,
The stress of the secret that he was keeping,
Was too much to bare for one mans heart,
But in the scheme of world this was his part.
What the gods demanded of mortal men,
For their own amusement they watch and grin.
So he thought on it long and hard,
This secret that he must guard.
The loss of his son and wife?
The loss of his world, his life?
And this was the price he had paid,
And now alone with only his blade
He must follow the northern star
Down a long and treacherous path that would lead him to lands afar.
This was pre-destined, this was his fate,
Until he entered his warrior grave and walked through Valhalla?s gate.
So he wiped away the tears he had shed,
For all he had loved who now were dead.
His hate for gods raged deep inside him,
But he held it and squeezed it ?till it was dim.
He would have his revenge one day,
On the immortals that had made him this way.
The secret must never be told.
His heart he must keep bold.
So he picked up his shield and blade,
And left the little glade.
To start on his journey, his quest,
Much was to be done before he could rest.
