Lost Boy

by Nyx Sange
 Age Group: Adult

Once long ago, this boy I knew He wandered like a lamb in morning dew. Wished not in this world by the world alone, Across the lands, this boy would roam, Unsure if he himself wanted to exist, Wishing somehow his life would desist. If only this boy had looked above, Would he have found something in love. He did find a meaning, but once it had come, It left him with scars never seen by some. Metal in his body, blades in his heart, Poison in his blood had torn him apart. In one fell swoop, this sad little boy Had lost all his pride, love, and joy. Exiling himself in the dark lonely night, He ran from the pain, head first into the fight. Long has this boy remained in the dark, Fearing another attack to his heart, Until one day, his eyes became blind By a strange bright light shining from behind. “Is this a godsend… an angel?” he thought, “Or is this the devil that comforts me naught?” The light was burning with intense passion And he immediately took rash action. Approaching the light so gentle and warm, He saw a figure calming his storm. She reached out a hand to take him out Of this dreary darkness, plaguing him with doubt. Wary at first, he gave her his hand And she took him to see new far away lands. His heart was soaring, his soul was redeemed As he looked to the girl that he had dreamed. This once lost boy, with scars and pain, Became willing to live his life again. Now in the light, this lost boy walks But his heart now flies higher than a hawk’s. With this newfound freedom he finds comfort in, He is ready for his new life to begin…
