Mining
by River
Age Group: Adult
I am a miner
Like us all
A scavenger picking
As I wander
Through this life
Plucking out the good bits
To shine and show
To those I love
Poems are like
Diamonds in the clay
A vein of ruby
A chunk of amber raw
Uncut in the earth
Intrinsically beautiful
But so breathtaking
When passed through
Polished
By the buffers of
Human skill
And experience
What a precious gift
She has bestowed upon us
That she
Would allow me
This holiest
Lowliest of jobs
That of
Polishing the stones
She has so graciously
Left
For me to find
Author's Notes: This is really a kind of thank you, to Her... It is believed in a lot of cultures, that poetry, music and all such inspired art are gifts of the Divine. I was meditating on that when this poem kinda snuck up on me, and in the process of working on it, it described itself.
