Chains

I hope you enjoy doing this.
Putting me down,
Making me low.
You say all you want is what's best for me,
But what you mean is you want an ideal daughter.
You don't like what I am.
What I've become.
So you bind me
If everytime I tried to be free,
You'd think I was insane.
You'd shoot me down and clip my wings
And wrap me up in chains.
I hope you're proud of what you've done
To mold me
To clone me.
Telling me that it will help me,
But all it's done is limit me.
You've trapped me in this "home".
In this Hell
And you're binding me.
If everytime I tried to be free,
You'd think I was insane.
You'd blind, deafen and gag me up,
Then wrap me up in chains.
I hope you're happy of what you made.
An empty shell
A broken bell
You wanted me to be happy,
But you only made things worse
Now, I hate what I am.
I hate what you made me.
And I won't let you bind me...
Not anymore...
If everytime I tried to be free,
You'd think I was insane,
But soon, you'll see what I can be.
I won't be wrapped in chains.
I hope you have some common sense left
To see me
To believe me.
You wanted me to be real,
I will show you what "real" is.
But I don't need you.
I've never needed you.
All you've done was bind me.
'Cuz everytime I tried to be free,
You thought I was insane
But I will soon be stronger than you
And break free from your chains.
Author's Notes: A poem basically about how my father has influenced me. He hasn't really been supporting about my future. He wants to have a good Christian daughter with good grades and a bright future. But that's not me. I don't want to know my future, and if I did, it would still be cloudy. He doesn't like what I am. He wishes I was... someone else.
