I'm Sorry

To my mother:
I know you gave me life,
However, it's not the one you wanted.
How do I know? Because you tell me.
In your eyes, in your voice.
In your subtle words of grief and regret,
I can hear those words uttering,
"I wish you were better..."
To my father:
I know you want to support me,
But it's only to make me feel better.
You don't approve of all that I do,
But you hide behind that mask
Just to keep me happy,
But I can hear you thinking those words
"I wish you were someone else..."
To my brother:
I know how much you like to kid around,
But you're blind to me.
You think your words can't hurt me,
But you can't see the pain you caused me.
I know you don't mean it, but enough is enough.
Deep down, I think you know those words well,
"I wish she wasn't so pathetic..."
To my sister:
We've spent the most time together,
But we have nothing in common.
The closer we are together, the worse off we are.
We're total and polar opposites.
You don't understand most of the things that I do.
You don't need to tell me what you want to say,
"I wish she wasn't so weird..."
To my family:
I've lived under your roof for so long,
But I am so far away from you.
I wasn't popular or talented in common things.
I found my comfort in things you disapprove of.
I've found love and friends in these places.
I'm sorry I couldn't be who you wanted me to be...
But I wish you could just understand...
