Why?

You broke up with me a half a year ago
So why can't I get out out of my head?
Why can't I get you out of my heart?
Every little thing reminds me of you
And our memories we created
Just once I would like to listen to a song
And not remember it was ours
Just once I would like to read poetry
And not remember you wrote one about me
And just once I would like to watch a movie
Not wishing you were there by my side
Like you had been before.
I want to move on with my life
And start dating again
But then when I do
The guy doesn't seem like my type
And for some reason
I compare him to you
I opened my heart and arms to you
You walked into them and right back out
Like I was a ghost to you
We gave back our things
But one thing I'll always ask,
Why can't I have my heart back?
Author's Notes: I wrote this several months after my ex boyfriend broke up with me. I am moving on from him, but that question will always remain.
