Because you love me

There it is again,
That constant grim reminder.
It's kind of ironic
How I can see what most people miss in others
Yet when I look in the mirror,
I can't see past myself.
I want to tear my skin away
and make a new body out of the scars.
Isn't that what you want, Mom
When you say "I do it because I love you"?
I know that imperfection and evil exists.
You remind me every day
By lashing at me mentally.
I know what you want from me,
And I'm sorry I can't give it to you.
But I can't make everyone happy.
And that includes you
No matter how much you want it.
Would you be happy with a fake?
If you do it because you love me?
You want me to be normal,
Even though you say you want me to be myself,
But you buy me all these clothes,
You make me into a prep.
You want me to be ideal
Why can't you accept that I can't be that way?
You badger me when I do things I like and you don't.
You hound at me and you break me,
Anyd you do it because you love me.
Sometimes I wonder at night
If on your deathbed,
You look at me and see someone you didn'te expect.
Would you still be happy?
Would you still give me the eyes
You gave me when I was born
Or would your tears distort your vision into a perfect me?
Would your conscience let you regret everything?
Everything you did because you loved me?
