Only Me

The church bells ring in the distance
As I hang from the chains.
The moonlight glares at me ominously
As I only look up and cry.
I have been forsaken.
My people have sacrificed me.
And for what?
To feed this creature
Whose bloodlust is never sated?
He will come for them
But for now, there's only me.
I hear children singing in the church.
The midnight mass has begun.
As I hang my head in sorrow,
I know my time is nigh.
I am just prey for the beast.
I am a wilting savior.
But I do not want it to end like this.
I can hear the creature howling
Ready to feed on me.
They said I would save the town,
But why is it only me?
The hymn is starting to haunt me
And the end will signal my own.
I’m dangling from the chains,
Blood trickling down like tears.
A noise is heard and I lift my head
To face the black forest.
He has come for me now.
His decayed face and dead eyes
Glare at me furiously.
He has found his prey.
And that prey is only me
Author's Notes: This is just a story about a role I play in a haunted house. I was the chained girl that got to scream. Fun times!
