Rantings of a Confused and Scared Heart

It's just strange.
You meet someone
And you don't know if it's their real face.
You want to believe it and they tell you it's real,
But your fears assume that they're someone else.
You think that everything is all a masquerade,
But part of your heart wants to believe this is their true form.
I don't want my heart to be shattered again.
It's still broken, but I can't fix it by myself.
How much trust is left for me to give, I don't know.
I want to give it away, but I'm afraid it's to the wrong person.
My heart tells me it's okay,
But my memory says I shouldn't do it
With someone I just met.
Who do I listen to:
The one who is willing to fix me
Or the one who wants to protect me?
I want to be there for him. I know he's suffering too.
I feel safe, but I still fear what he might do.
Would he betray me
Like the other did?
Would he hurt me and beat me to the ground
Like the other did?
Would he shatter my heart into a million pieces?
I want the truth.
I want him there to tell me everything will be okay
And actually know that.
I don't want him to tell me to just comfort me
And then have everything blow up in my face.
I want him to help me...
Author's Notes: My thoughts when I first met my boyfriend and after I was abused by my previous "boyfriend". I don't know what made these surface, but they've been plaguing me for some reason.
