The Revelations of Persephone

Behold! The Thunder Crashing
Raindrops thrashing!
As I arise to taste the sky
And gaze through Sol's red dawning eye.
Scented field and Shrieking Fen -
I know I have become again.
I am the taste of joy on earth
For every mother giving birth
Partakes of death's endless beginning -
Fierce strangeness of all our unwinding -
Weaves to and from a deathless sea
Of youth's eternal memory
I am the one that shadows cast
Daughter, Mother, First and Last
All pain and woe is fallen sleep
When children wander and mothers weep
I did not leave! I did not die!
The cry of all life testifies!
Without my touch or living loom
Cold Caustic Tomb or Fiery Womb?
Cruel gods dissolve in rage or lust
And leave the earth in ash and dust
For me this hell becomes a home
And blooms no matter where I roam.
Wake up! Wake up! Field and Fountain
Sleep not! Sleep not! Marsh and Mountain.
Mine is the voice of rushing waters
The laughter of your sons and daughters.
Oh you with unbelieving eyes!
I am the song of Paradise.
To those who sing a simple verse
Go Heralding my broken curse!
And sing the song of gods to me
Through once forbidden memory.
Through rivers rushing, forests humming
"I am becoming... am becoming..."
