I love my family...

by Nyx Sange
 Age Group: Adult

The one thing in the world, More precious than gold or life Is the love this family gives me Through sadness and through strife.
When Mother cooks me dinner With love and warmth and care And never forgets to tell me I'm worth all that's there.
When Father keeps me entertained By witty jokes and fun And by playing with his children Let me know it's really begun.
When Son would keep me safe, And always keep me warm. And he'd come to my bed every night To save me from the storm.
When Daughter would make me laugh By rehearsing every line From every comidean she's ever heard And perform it just as fine.
When Mom and Dad watch movies with us And cuddle with each other. They let us know how much they love And devote to one another.
I love this family very much, Because they let their love be shown. The only thing that makes me sad Is this family is not my own.
I'm afraid to go back home Because of what may wait I'm scared of all the sorrow and pain I feel, and all the hate.
My mother's perfectionist ways Have made me feel unloved Her eyes are false and only see What she would call "beloved".
My fathers emotions running wild And too fast for him to catch. They taunt him until he becomes enraged Like a barbarian, not to be matched.
My sister, who drowns her sorrows Far too numerous to count. Until she's running raving mad And brings up old flaws to account.
My brother locks himself away From all the madness below He's locked himself up too far away Where only insanity may go.
My home is a living warzone Where hate and anger flies. Not even my familiars can stand it As much as they have tried.
At home, I feel no warmth. Just cold, and deep despair. Where fury blinds my family's eyes Too much for them to care.
So I run to Son's family Where love and warmth are found. Where I can go not to be judged And where happiness can surround.
I love this family very much, But I cry and sob alone. For the family I love to death and beyond, I cannot call my own...
